Ms Marie Janviere UWAYO
Ms Marie Janviere Uwayo, who graduated from Biology Department, Botany and Conservation option at University of Rwanda in 2013, was recently accepted into the very competitive MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill University, Canada beginning September 2017 to study for a Masters degree in Integrated Water Resources Management in the Department of Bioresources Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at McGill University, Canada.
Mr Celestin MURAGIJEYEZU
Mr Celestin Muragijeyezu graduated from Biology Department Zoology & Conservation option at University of Rwanda in 2013, and was recently accepted into the Masters Program in Animal Science at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden starting September 2017 with a full scholarship.
Mr Blaise Pascal SHYAKA
Mr. Blaise Pascal Shyaka, a current Biology Student in the Biotechnology option won a scholarship to attend the 2017 Global Korea Scholarship for African and Latin American Undergraduate Students Program hosted by Korea’s National Institute for International Education. In this summer 2017, he conducted his internship in animal biotechnology and food science skills at Chonbuk National University in South Korea.“I have learned five key skills: DNA extraction and sequencing, Livestock feed formulation using computer software, Artificial insemination, Embryo transfer, and Meat processing.These skills are crucial to boost Rwandan and African livestock industry which lags far behind all other continents in terms of animal production and animal products processing. I and several other African fellows are expected to share knowledge acquired and to bring change in the African livestock industry”: said Blaise Pascal SHYAKA.

Ms. Jeanne Uwambajimana, a 3rd year student in the Biotechnology option in Biology Department at University of Rwanda won a scholarship from Amgen Scholarship Program for an internship in a prestigious biotechnology laboratory at Kyoto University, Japan this summer for two months. The Japanese Embassy in Rwanda assisted in facilitating the scholarship opportunity for a UR student.
